About Us

We are a transdisciplinary team of experienced guides from many different backgrounds, sharing a vision of creating an accessible and inclusive space, sensitive towards gender and identity diversity. We combine traditional and contemporary approaches, along with a deep focus on creative and somatic practices, where both seasoned explorers and new initiates from different walks of life can experience the potential of non-ordinary states of consciousness, self-inquiry and personal growth.

We believe that meaningful psychedelic experiences are achieved with the help of dedicated space-holding guides and as a facet of an integrated supportive programme. That’s why we’ve gathered specialists from around the world, from medical doctors to spiritual advisors, psychotherapists to naturopaths, yoga teachers to art therapists – all here to facilitate a safe and expansive experience.

Psilocybin

The effects of Psilocybin, the bioactive compound in magic mushrooms and truffles, are wide reaching and multi-faceted. We have many years’ experience in working with this substance in a multitude of diverse settings. As the frontiers of psychedelic research continue to expand, we stay on the forefront with new and unique innovations for safest practice and up to date application. Featured as an aspect of our integrative program, we have witnessed the great potential of working with this substance for processes of self-inquiry and connection many times.

Our Bodies

We believe that the body is a vehicle of awareness, and movement is its primary language. Taking the time to disconnect from daily routines and tune in to our body-wisdom allows us the space to connect to a much needed sense of softening and vulnerability. In these states, we can safely explore our inner workings, gaining deeper insight into the shadow realms that harbour the keys to our self acceptance, our fears and our doubts. It is both our personal and professional experience that creative processes, arts and holistic bodywork, when part of a comprehensive integrative program, are indispensable catalysts to self-discovery and development.

With the assistance of psychedelic tools, we unite with and cherish our bodies, using expressions such as dance, movement and authentic voice, through which we embody our emotions and deeply connect with ourselves and with others. Many cultures recognize the great importance of grounding touch. Simple physical contact can be extremely supportive when done safely and consensually with clear expression of boundaries. In our work, we broaden the meaning and application of nurturing touch to help release the build-up of stress in our individual and collective nervous systems.

On Identities

As the field of Psychedelic Sciences continues to unfold and reveal an ever-growing list of benefits for body and mind, we are deeply grateful to the countless generations of shamans, healers and curanderxs from across the globe who practiced and developed this work for millennia. For years uncountable, open-hearted tribes and traditional healers have been sharing their deep knowledge of plant medicine and their message of community connection. Inspired, we are resolved to face and meet the challenges present in our own era - integrating plant wisdom into a modern, globalized culture.

We recognize the need to create contexts that respond to life’s diversity and transcend the restrictions imposed by social norms. By creating safe and supportive spaces, we aim to alleviate the threats non-normative communities face when opening up to the world. It is our community’s mission to create environments where being oneself is acknowledged and supported and different identities of gender, sexuality are embraced.  We equip participants with the tools to explore their own path of peace and liberation, while supporting them through transparency and non-judgment.

We believe that our work, and that of the psychedelic community as a whole, has the potential to change our society and culture on a large scale. Recent studies have shown that people who have participated in small group facilitated psychedelic journeys become more community-minded and less individualistic. We have personally witnessed how psychedelic practices pave the way for more social empathy and promote cooperation, allowing groups to move away from centralized power structures towards more inclusive and collaborative communities.

We are constantly evolving, learning from research, from experience and from the mushrooms themselves, expanding our horizons and our offerings, daring to dream and to act.

Here’s what’s coming up:

“The entire retreat was a highlight. I find it difficult to pick specific moments. How the schedule was spread out seemed to work well with the rhythm of the emotions being experienced. To be taken care of in mind and body and spirit with complete trust is a rarity and Kiyumí made it happen. Every facilitator brought something unique that hit the spot.

I came to the retreat with an intention that in itself for me was challenging - letting go, releasing control and surrendering. The facilitators knew this and made it possible for me to explore what this feels like. Without the facilitators and also the support and humbleness and oneness of the entire group where we were all experiencing our individual challenges made it possible to work through the experience.”

— VANESSA

“I’m closer to my emotions, I feel I understand my body signals better. I listen to myself. I understood how intelligent my body was and I just had to follow!”

— HADRIEN

“The retreat as a whole definitely had an impact on me. I am very touched that I could meet so many people on a quest, people searching for meaning and willing to take risks on the way! The trip itself gave me the closure I needed after a very bad trip 20 years ago. There where times during the trip when I was really euphoric and I realize in retrospect, that it was love for myself and as a result of that for everybody and everything else. Good to know that I have that somewhere inside of me. ”

— NICO

“I felt very comfortable in the space and with the facilitators, and found the sessions and workshops very relevant and useful. After the retreat I felt blessed, eased and relaxed. I’m more open to people and give myself more hugs.”

— MARTIN

“It helped me feel powerful again, and in that power, feel the light shining through me. It helped me understand that i have a deep impact on all aspects of reality, that its only a matter of good choice. It helped me feel i was now able to know what’s good and what’s not for me, in my relationships, in my relationship to food or drugs. I stopped drinking and smoking (tobacco) since then, as i didn’t need it. It helped me as well understand other aspects of the cosmic realm which are deeply important for my own artistic practice - my life practice lets say.”

— VINCENT

“The impact of the retreat : Integrating each day and seeing that I have no more fears!”

— KAT

“The retreat deeply impacted me, I Iet go from old pain and suffering. I´m more in my body in my heart.
The highlights were the clarity from the facilitators, being more gentle to myself and eating the fresh food. After the retreat I still feel this big big love all around me. I felt completely secure with the facilitators and found all the sessions useful.”

— SILKE

“I have been working on acceptance (and it showed me how much more work I have to do) but that is good. It showed me my coping mechanisms and helped me ask if they are stopping my progress. I had a lot of spiritual questions raised to look into... again another step on the journey.”

Psychedelic Substance and Dosages

+ Why are truffles used?

Fungi are complex beings in which the mushroom is only one part of the whole. The mushroom is the fruiting body of fungi and is visible above the ground. The larger part of fungi is actually below ground and is called the mycelium. This is a web of thin fibers that grow through the soil, wood, and organic matter. The mycelium connects plants and trees within a forest, exchanges minerals and food with plants, and digests and breaks down plant matter. Some species of mushrooms have adapted to droughts by creating tough knots of mycelium beneath the ground, which are commonly called truffles. We use truffles in our retreat as psilocybin containing mushrooms are not legally regulated in the Netherlands. As such, truffles may have a different appearance, yet they share the same active ingredient with the so-called “magic mushrooms".

+ Do I have to fear strong negative emotions?

Participants will ingest the truffles in a ginger tea infusion which allows fast absorption and helps reduce the possibility of nausea.

+ Do I have to fear strong negative emotions?

While participants very often describe blissful experiences, strong challenging emotions can also be part of it. It is important to always keep in mind that these emotions are transient and part of your personal experience. For some people experiencing a difficult patch in a safely held space can be very meaningful and helpful to understand more about themselves.

+ How is the correct dosage determined?

The recommended dosage goes from 1 to 1.5 packs (between 22gr to 33gr) of a specific strain to maintain safety and consistent results. Which is around 20-35mg of the active compound Psilocybin. It depends on your medical history, body weight, personality type and previous experience with psychedelics. Ultimately, you will determine the amount with your dedicated facilitator. We require that you respect and trust our dosage recommendations, as your safety is our number one priority.

+ Are psilocybin-containing truffles toxic?

Psilocybin is not toxic and is a serotonin analogue, primarily operating on the brains 5HT2A receptors. The psychedelic response is a result of this chemical interaction with your serotonin system. Psilocybin is also less harmfull than many other psychoactive substances.

Travel, Accommodation, and Catering

+ Can I have a single room?

Yes, depending on availability and date of your request/booking. There is an additional cost of 250€ all together for 5 nights. The priority will go towards participants who did not pay the low income option when registering. If, for specific reasons, you need to obtain a single room and have not the fund for it, write us at contact@kiyumi.org or ask for a call with one of our team member.

+ How do I get there?

For each retreat, there is the option to book a spot in the group taxi that will pick you up on arrival day and drop you off on leaving day near Amsterdam Centraal Station. There is an additional cost of 75€.

+ Do I need to bring anything specifically?

The venue provides bed sheets and towels but no toiletry. We invite you to bring reusable bottles over single use ones. Get some comfortable clothing and your sauna-kit if it is available to this specific retreat.

+ Sharing my private information?

Yes, and by fully respecting your privacy we want to support the sharing of your personal story. None of it will be shared with third parties.

+ Can I come to the retreat late or leave a day early?

Unfortunately, it is not possible for participants to arrive a day late or leave a day early. The retreat is constructed in a way to create a safe container for all participants and in which all parts are important for the individual as well as group experience. We also recommend taking some time off after the retreat, a day or more, to allow for a smooth transition back into daily life.

+ What kind of food will be served?

The meal plan is specifically adapted to the retreat, taking specific care in nutrition needed before and after your psychedelic journey. Nutrition is important for health and joy in life, and Kiyumí emphasizes delicious and healthy food as part of a happy life. All food is vegan to ensure compatibility for everyone. Moreover, we ask you to notify us of any specific dietary requirements that you may have due to allergies, for example.
